Corpus Delicti is a reference to both the legal term and the human body in general. The thread running through the exhibition will be the body in relation to other bodies and in relation to a specific context.
The large central hall, « La salle des pas perdus », will be both the start and finish of the exhibition. This is the place where paths cross in all directions, those of users and visitors, people involved in a lawsuit, judges, councillors and lawyers, and also a lot of tourists who wish to see this overwhelming space.
All human emotion, hope and disappointment, desire and disillusionment are concentrated here.

Finally, the doors of the palace will be opened for a number of evening tours accompanied by music, dance and theatre performances. These evenings are conceived as exclusive, privileged and magical moments.
Summary The aim of Corpus Delicti is to provide a platform for contemporary art in a special environment for the benefit of the general public and in particular for the many people who use the building. Consequently, the works have been selected not only for their quality but also their accessibility to a broad public.
We have selected works which are not only recognisable and focus mainly on the human body, but also evoke sufficient associations, generate a range of meanings and form an integral part of the special context of the rooms in the Law Courts.

Berlinde De Bruyckere, « speaking »
We create « atmospheres » in the Law Courts, situations where bodies relate to their context - « a nocturnal garden » with Mozart's music in the background.

Marie Delier, « femmes voilées », installation

Michel Huisman, « N° 64” (nachttuin) », 1996
As the walls of the building are not really suitable for hanging works, we shall be exhibiting three-dimensional works as well as special installations that make use of light and sound and of course video films.
